Scripps College, a women's liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor in American Studies to begin July 1, 2027. The area of specialization is open but candidates with a background in comparative ethnic studies are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching complements or adds new areas to the existing curriculum, including through Native American Studies, indigenous studies, queer studies, and ethnographic approaches. The teaching load is two courses each semester and advising on senior theses is required. Participation in the Core Curriculum in Interdisciplinary Humanities program is expected. Ph.D. in American Studies is preferred but related disciplines will be considered. Ph.D. is required by start date. The salary for this position will range from $84,767 to $94,185 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
