Description

The Department of Mathematics at the Courant Institute is calling for applications for faculty positions in applied mathematics and mathematics to begin in September 2025 at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor level. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Applied mathematics for Physical and Life Sciences, Combinatorics, Algebra/Number Theory, and Scientific computing.

The Department of Mathematics at Courant offers an outstanding scholarly environment for mathematical and interdisciplinary research. It has a long and world-renowned tradition in both pure and applied mathematics and in bridging between them. Mathematics at Courant benefits from the proximity of the Computer Science department within the Courant Institute and the cross-disciplinary Center of Data Science at NYU.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 for the rank of Assistant Professor, $120,000 - $180,000 for the rank of Associate Professor, and $165,000 - $265,000 for the rank of Full Professor. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market and organization considerations.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field.
