Teacher Responsibilities and Schedule Teachers at Equality Charter High School are expected to engage fully in both instruction and collaboration. Key responsibilities include:
- Five out of eight daily periods are student facing. This is typically five instructional classes, though at times and based on school needs, one period may include a lunch duty
- Prep periods are intentionally used for co planning with co teachers in core content areas and for instructional coaching meetings
- Participation in department meetings and other collaborative professional learning opportunities is expected
- The daily work schedule is 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- On Tuesdays, the schedule extends from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM to allow for professional development and team collaboration
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
- New York State Teaching Certification in Physical Education (or in the process of obtaining reciprocity).
- Proven classroom management skills with the ability to create a structured and positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate students while fostering a supportive classroom culture.
- Experience in incorporating hands-on, cooperative, and interactive learning activities in physical education.
- Passion for working with urban students and understanding the challenges they face.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a collaborative approach to teaching.
Salary Range: Bachelors only- 68k-85k
Masters only-76k-93k
Additional education and experience will be taken into account during compensation analysis.
