Job Summary:In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's control systems aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project's control systems aspects are met. #LI-AM3
Major Responsibilities:- Plans and conducts independent Telecommunications work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Telecommunications engineering solutions, procedures, and criteria on projects or assignments in support of a global business unit
- Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of telecommunication system components (Voice/Data) and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Develop and create coverage studies for horizontal cabling distance limitations including coordination with Architectural discipline and clients for optimum telecommunication space locations and sizes.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to all stakeholders
- Develops conceptual designs for Telecommunications engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
- Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
- Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
- Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Telecommunications aspects of the work and scope changes
- Coordinates with internal disciplines and leadership as required on system scope development, Risks/impacts, interface needs, and budget trends
- Conducts or leads special studies of new Telecommunications engineering methods, materials and techniques
- Mentors Telecommunications engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development
- Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed
Education and Experience Requirements:- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:- RCDD certification or Professional Engineer license required
- Knowledge of systems, equipment, applications of design methods, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project design deliverables within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline. ICT-Telecommunication discipline may include security systems, surveillance systems, ERRCS/DAS, and PAGA
- Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline.
- Knowledge of developing ICT-Telecommunications designs including specifications, details, one-lines, schedules, riser diagrams, Bill of Materials, space plans, pathway designs to support inside and outside plant cabling infrastructure, fill calculations.
- Knowledge of TIA standards, BICSI publications, and NFPA codes.
- Knowledge in use of industry standard software (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, REVU (BlueBeam), Microsoft Suites) is desirable.
