Telecom Engineer Staff
Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for implementing moderate and typical complex telecom engineering and / or analytical activities associated with one or more technical areas within the telecom function.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for WAN voice platform programming, interfacing with data transport, SIP, VOiP, Telecom and network designs.
- Accountable for voice system operational support, assessing and optimizing network design through the use of various Telecom test gear, feasibility studies, and interfacing with outside Telcos.
- Works under Telecom Engineer Lead on all future casting, PBX upgrades, and voice WAN design including SIP, QoS, VOiP, TDM, and all CTI interfaces.
- Works with Engineer lead on projects, interfacing with Network data and server groups.
- Is as a technical resource for all other Telecom staff and fully supports their efforts.
- Maintains up to date and state of the art technical training, implementation of test gear, and assists other telecom staff in this effort.
- Local travel required.
- This position is a role model and mentor for technical team concerning attitude, performance, work ethic, team core values and customer relations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
BS in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience. Additional industry recognized advanced telecommunications training preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of six-eight (6-8) years’ experience in telecommunications systems, VOiP, and network planning, design and implementation required. Advanced knowledge of Avaya PBX voice, QoS, and network administration required. Knowledge of Avaya Session Manager and Session Boarder Controller preferred. Experience with Telecom test gear and monitoring gear preferred. Knowledge of voice trafficking, VOiP interfacing, and SIP protocol preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
