Job Summary
The Technology Engineer is a member of the Technology and Technical Support Department (T&TS) of Axens Americas Regional Operating Center (ROC). This team provides technical support to the Catalyst & Adsorbents, Process Licensing and Equipment businesses for the Americas region.
The individual will provide technology support for Axens adsorbent-based purification and Claus technologies and products, and will support after-sales field activities by delivering technical assistance across the Axens technology portfolio.
JOB DUTIES/Responsibilities
Develops and provides technical know-how for the technologies of specialization.
Focuses on direct day-to-day technology and technical services operational tasks, with support and supervision from more senior engineers as necessary.
Develops, present and ensure follow-up of technical projections for replacement of catalysts and adsorbents in existing units.
Participates in the development, presentation and follow-up of technical proposals and studies in support of evaluation by clients of Axens technologies and integrated solutions, for grassroot and revamp projects.
Supports Commercial team for the development of commercial proposals for Axens Americas ROC Catalyst & Adsorbent and Process Licensing businesses.
Provides after sales technical service to Axens clients with the following objectives:
Monitoring clients' units and catalyst/adsorbent performance, supporting clients in optimizing operations and troubleshooting issues through both remote support and regular visits to client sites.
Building long-term relationships with clients while showcasing Axens' expertise.
Supports after-sales field activities for Axens clients by delivering technical assistance across all technologies with the following objectives:
Provides on-site support for unit troubleshooting and turnaround activities.
Technical assistance assignments generally consist of short-duration field engagements.
Provides technical assistance during unit start-ups, including pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and acceptance testing activities. These assignments may require extended stays in the field of several weeks.
Participates in training sessions with Axens' clients as well as Axens Americas ROC team members from all business divisions.
Participates in the promotion of products, technologies and services with external parties in various meeting formats, from large industry conferences to smaller one-on-one client meetings.
Comply with Axens quality system requirements including contribution to the development and updates of Axens internal standards and processes as well as actively participating in internal team metrics including Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other ISO requirements.

Education

Work Experience
Three or more (3+) years of experience in the gas, petrochemical and/or refining industry with demonstrated experience in catalysis and adsorption phenomena.
Field experience required (experience in commissioning/startup/shutdown activities or ongoing operational support)
Knowledge in chemical engineering fundamentals including reaction engineering, catalyst and general chemistry required.
Experience with PRO/II process simulation software (or similar) is preferred, experience in Excel-based modeling tools required.
Experience in basic process design, project engineering and/or economics is a plus.
Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 30% of time
