The Technical Specialist, PM - Archaeology will manage and support cultural resources projects from planning and fieldwork through reporting and closeout. This role combines project management, client engagement, and hands-on archaeological work, partnering closely with the Senior Technical Manager, Archaeology and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality work for our clients.
What You'll Do
• Manage archaeological and cultural resources projects, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and deliverables.
• Serve as a primary client contact and provide clear, timely project communication.
• Plan, coordinate, lead, and participate in archaeological field investigations, including surveys, monitoring, testing, site documentation, and evaluation.
• Direct field staff and coordinate project logistics, staffing, equipment, and schedules.
• Prepare and review cultural resources reports, technical documentation, scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Support compliance with NEPA, NHPA Sections 106 and 110, CEQA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and applicable federal, state, Tribal, and local requirements.
• For California projects, apply knowledge of CEQA, AB 52, SB 18, and relevant agency requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to archaeological staff.
• Collaborate across Verdantas disciplines to integrate cultural resources needs into environmental, engineering, planning, and infrastructure projects.
• Support client relationships, proposals, and new project opportunities.
• Travel to project sites and perform fieldwork as needed.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in archaeology, anthropology, historical archaeology, or a related field.
• Professional experience in cultural resources management, archaeological fieldwork, and technical reporting.
• Experience managing or coordinating projects, budgets, schedules, field efforts, and staff.
• Strong client communication, organization, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, Tribal, and local cultural resources regulations.
• Experience leading archaeological field crews preferred.
• RPA certification or eligibility preferred.
• Experience working with Tribal Nations, THPOs, SHPOs, federal agencies, and other reviewing agencies preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel and perform archaeological fieldwork in varying conditions
