SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe primary role is for sale of Aftermarket (AM) parts, to provide customer service and to be a technical resource to achieve the Sales targets for the Rochester, NY division and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation state of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Inside Technical Service Sales Engineer must be a self-motivated person who desires to work in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment. Must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Inside Technical Sales Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with sales, manufacturing and customers throughout the sales cycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work directly with customers and field sales force for their technology inquiries. Review customer inquiry specifications and communicate with customer to determine customer needs. Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
- Customer communications/support throughout the proposal stage, order stage and as well as post order follow-up/support.
- Listen, understand and convey customer requirements.
- Prepare cost estimates and develop technical proposal.
- Work with engineering and procurement for continuous design and cost improvements.
- Complete preliminary technologies designs and calculations along with cost and schedule estimates and develop proposals to secure orders.
- Maintain accurate records to target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, and maintain contacts and correspondence in company approved databases.
- Review customer orders and terms and conditions for accuracy and conformance with corporate guidelines and business practice.
- Enter orders into business system.
- Set up and maintain customer electronic and/or paper files.
- Possible travel to customer sites to promote sales, review applications and proposals and to close orders.
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.
- Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects.
- Identify customers' needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.
- Work with manufacturing representatives on Pfaudler products and inquiries.
- Work closely with the Operations Department to monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
- Complete post-project reviews for knowledge of process design changes or improvements necessary for the system and leverage this knowledge for future proposals and orders.
- On a monthly basis, rotate after-hours and weekends 24/7 for emergency coverage, customer orders and technical requests as needed.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEB.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering.
Must possess at least 3-5 years' related technical experience. Experience in the chemical industry is desirable. Previous sales experience is preferred.
Must have good communications skills, written and verbal, be a self-starter, able to multi-task, well organized and work autonomously. Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel occasionally by car or air.
LANGUAGE SKILLSMust have the ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents for industrial equipment such as equipment drawings and data sheets, customer specifications and operating and maintenance manuals. Must have the ability to compose technical documents including customer proposals and routine reports and customer correspondence. Must have the ability to speak effectively with a single customer or small customer groups either over the phone or for customer presentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as costs, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, temperature, pressure and convert between American and SI units.

Primarily the work environment is a typical office environment. The employee will also be required to enter the Pfaudler workshop environment to track job progress, inspect equipment components and accompany customers during inspections. The employee will also be required to visit customer plant sites to view existing or proposed equipment installations. The customer plant sites are typical chemical and pharmaceutical operating plant sites where the employee will be required to follow the plant site safety regulations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
