Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Milpitas, CA

Department: Standards

Salary Range: $118,200- $147,000 per year

This position is open to candidates residing in U.S. states where the organization is currently authorized to employ individuals. Eligible work locations will be confirmed during the hiring process. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and maintain ongoing work authorization throughout employment without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

THE ROLE:

The Technical Project Manager position is responsible for managing technical and supply-chain projects that are ultimately developed into global industry standards. Standards are voluntary technical agreements between suppliers and customers, aimed at improving product quality and reliability at a reasonable price and steady supply. Standards ensure compatibility and inter-operability of goods and services.

The position has the responsibility for facilitating various SEMI technology industry groups in identifying critical standardization areas, architecting the standardization framework, and then driving these initiatives successfully through a consensus-based process. This role will work in collaboration with global, cross-functional team members to drive these SEMI technology initiatives, grow membership base and deepen SEMI Standards presence in the microelectronics and adjacent industries.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing position that requires strong communication and presentation skills. The role must provide public presentations, information, and articles pertaining to SEMI Standards and other SEMI technology initiatives. The position must ensure that programs and initiatives meet SEMI's charter and can be provided within the existing budget. Responsibilities also include collaboration with SEMI internal marketing in determining the right methods and activities for marketing of SEMI Standards initiatives.

This is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Director of Standards at SEMI Milpitas Office.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive technical and supply chain projects for development into SEMI Standards
• Coordinate and manage standards development projects originating from SEMI industry groups, technology communities, and related initiatives.
• Support SEMI Technology Coalitions in developing industry frameworks and best practices that can be translated into SEMI Standards requirements, guidelines, and related deliverables.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings, workshops, and working sessions to drive consensus and advance technical objectives.
• Capture key decisions and outcomes, track action items, and coordinate follow-up activities.
• Recruit and engage project champions, contributors, and subject matter experts to build broad industry participation and support project objectives.
• Work with a matrixed team of industry volunteers and staff to ensure projects and deliverables are completed on time and on budget.
• Foster alignment and collaboration with industry associations, standards organizations, and other stakeholders whose activities support shared objectives.

Raise visibility of SEMI Standards Initiatives and Grow SEMI Standards branding
• Promote and raise industry awareness of SEMI Standards initiatives through technical workshops, white papers, web articles, newsletters, speaking engagements, webinars, social media, and other SEMI marketing channels.

Build and strengthen connections with critical stakeholders
• Provide regular updates of ongoing projects to various SEMI business units including regional offices
• Present on status and updates to related SEMI Standards Program committees and task forces

Champion SEMI Standards Development
• Provide technical writing support in drafting standards documentation
• Facilitate the transition of completed projects to formal SEMI Standards development
• Assist in appointing leadership
• Provide guidance on the Standards development process
• Assist activity initialization steps such as task force formation and new activity statement of work (SOW)
• Promote Usage of SEMI Standards
• With subject matter experts, develop Standards training and e-learning courses
• Support conformity assessment efforts related to SEMI Standards by engaging SEMI Technology Coalitions and industry expert networks.
• Assist in the Standards publication process to speed up time to market

KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE:
• B.S./B.A. in business or engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and/or trade association industry is required
• 2-3 years of experience in program/project management, PMP certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience in working with culturally diverse staff and customers preferred - multilingual abilities in a language of SEMI presence (e.g., China, Korea, Taiwan) is a plus
• Hands-on experience in the development of standards (if from industry) or management of standards development (if from a trade association or professional association) is preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Experience with project management software is a plus
• Expected travel < 10%

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will have program management experience with prior roles in the semiconductor industry and demonstrates working knowledge of semiconductor technology, industry players, challenges, and trends. You have an extreme customer focus mindset and has worked with international teams especially in a collaborative environment. The candidate is a process-oriented problem-solver who can manage multiple issues and projects with limited resources. You demonstrates strong inter-personal skills and embodies can-do, positive attitude.
