Full Job Description
The Technical Program Manager is a hands-on technical leader who turns complex customer and product needs into executable engineering plans and leads teams through delivery. This role is intentionally designed for an accomplished senior or principal software engineer, systems engineer, or technical lead who wants broader ownership of programs while remaining close to architecture, code, integration, and technical decision-making. The successful candidate will combine deep software development experience in Python and C with practical leadership, systems thinking, and foundational project management skills to deliver reliable solutions for Analogic's medical and aviation security products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the technical and execution leadership of complex, cross-functional software and systems programs from concept and architecture through integration, verification, release, deployment, and sustainment
Partner with software, systems, electrical, mechanical, test, cybersecurity, product, manufacturing, and field teams to translate customer and regulatory needs into clear requirements, technical plans, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
Provide hands-on technical leadership: review architectures and designs, participate in code and design reviews, guide implementation trade-offs, and use Python and C expertise to diagnose issues, evaluate prototypes, or develop supporting tools when needed
Build integrated roadmaps and practical schedules; define milestones, dependencies, critical paths, staffing needs, and measurable completion criteria using tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or Azure DevOps
Lead engineers through influence and technical credibility, establish priorities, clarify ownership, facilitate decisions, remove blockers, and mentor team members without relying solely on formal authority
Drive disciplined software execution, including estimation, backlog and release planning, configuration management, code reviews, automated testing, defect resolution, CI/CD, documentation, and operational readiness
Own program scope, requirements baselines, technical dependencies, risks, issues, opportunities, and change control; assess and clearly communicate impacts to performance, cost, schedule, quality, and cybersecurity
Draft, manage, and drive Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from inception through cross-functional review and final approval, ensuring technical scope, affected configurations, implementation plans, cost and schedule impacts, risks, and required documentation are complete and aligned
Use data and engineering evidence to monitor program health, anticipate bottlenecks, make informed trade-offs, and escalate decisions with clear options and recommendations
Communicate technical strategy, architecture, status, risks, and recovery plans effectively to engineers, senior leaders, customers, suppliers, and domestic and international stakeholders
Support proposals and new business by developing technical approaches, work breakdowns, estimates, preliminary schedules, assumptions, and risk assessments
Continuously improve engineering delivery practices and create lightweight, repeatable mechanisms that increase predictability, quality, and team effectiveness
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
8+ years of progressive software or systems engineering experience, including experience operating at a senior, lead, staff, or principal level on complex products
Strong professional software development experience in Python and C, including the ability to understand unfamiliar codebases, assess design quality, review code, troubleshoot integration issues, and engage credibly with software architects and developers
Demonstrated experience leading engineers or multidisciplinary technical teams through architecture, implementation, integration, test, release, or deployment; formal people-management experience is welcome but not required
Working knowledge of the full software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, defect management, build and release processes, and Agile or iterative development
Practical project-management fundamentals: breaking work into deliverables, estimating effort, sequencing dependencies, maintaining schedules, tracking risks and issues, managing change, and communicating status
Ability to navigate ambiguity, make sound technical judgments, and create clarity and accountability across multiple concurrent priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics and trade-offs to engineering, business, executive, and customer audiences
Basic proficiency with scheduling and work-management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent; advanced program-management credentials are not required
Must be a U.S. Person (as required by applicable law, regulation, or government contract)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with embedded, real-time, distributed, or safety- or mission-critical systems that integrate software, hardware, networking, and external interfaces
Experience with systems engineering practices such as requirements decomposition, interface definition, architecture modeling, verification and validation, and technical baseline management
Experience delivering regulated products in aviation security, medical devices, aerospace, defense, or another high-assurance environment
Experience with Linux, C/C++, cybersecurity, networking, DevOps/CI/CD, automated test, and software/hardware integration
Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical reviews, or coordinating work across organizational boundaries
Familiarity with Agile planning, earned value concepts, risk management, or schedule development; PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum, or SAFe, certification is a plus, not a prerequisite.
