5+ years of technical program management experience in electrical or electromechanical hardware, preferably in switchgear or power distribution.
Proven track record of taking hardware products from concept to design release and first production lot.
Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and configuration management processes.
Ability to read and interpret electrical single-lines and mechanical drawings effectively.
Experience managing component suppliers and ensuring sub-supplier qualification aligns with design schedules.
Excellent written communication skills for clear status reporting to both executives and engineers.
Bonus: Electrical engineering degree or PE license; experience with UL certifications or new product introduction in low-volume, high-mix environments.
Responsibilities
Drive the design program by owning the integrated plan for electrical equipment product lines from requirements to design release.
Schedule and run design reviews, capturing decisions and actions to ensure closure before the next gate.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and quality teams early in the design process to ensure manufacturability.
Track long-lead components and manage sub-supplier qualifications against the design schedule, escalating potential delays.
Maintain a controlled set of specifications, drawings, and change requests to ensure accurate factory builds.
Provide transparent reporting on program status, risks, and expenditures to engineering leadership.
Benefits
Opportunity to work on innovative in-house designs rather than off-the-shelf products.
Engagement in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams from engineering to manufacturing.
Potential for career growth in a rapidly evolving company focused on electrical infrastructure.
Commitment to pay equity and transparency in compensation practices.
Full Job Description
The Engineering Program Management Team
You'll join the technical program managers who run Fluidstack's infrastructure R&D programs. This role sits with the Electrical Equipment product engineering group, which is designing the medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchboards and busway, and prefabricated electrical skids and e-houses that Fluidstack will manufacture in its own factory rather than buy from the market. Your job is to drive those designs from concept to a released, manufacturable product on a schedule the factory and the build can hold.
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Taking equipment that the industry buys as catalog products and re-engineering it as Fluidstack-owned designs with a bill of materials, drawings, and test procedures a factory line can build to.
Running concept, preliminary, and critical design reviews across several equipment families in parallel and closing the actions they generate.
Qualifying the components and sub-suppliers each design depends on, with second sources, before the design is frozen.
Handing a released design to manufacturing engineering with the documentation, tooling, and test plan needed for the first production lot.
Role Scope
Drive the design program. Own the integrated plan for one or more electrical equipment product lines from requirements through design release, and hold the engineering team to its gates.
Run the design reviews. Schedule and run concept, preliminary, and critical design reviews, capture decisions and actions, and close them before the next gate.
Make it manufacturable. Bring manufacturing engineering, quality, and supply chain into the design early so bills of materials, tolerances, and test procedures are ready when the design releases.
Manage the component supply. Track long-lead components, sub-supplier qualification, and second sourcing against the design schedule, and escalate what will slip.
Hold the configuration. Keep specifications, drawings, and change requests in one controlled set so the factory builds what engineering released.
Report the truth. Keep program status, risks, and spend visible to engineering leadership without waiting to be asked.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
5+ years of technical program management on electrical or electromechanical hardware that was designed and manufactured in house, ideally switchgear, switchboards, power distribution, or electrical enclosures.
You have taken at least one hardware product from concept through design release and first production lot, running the design review gates along the way.
You understand design for manufacturing, configuration management, and how a bill of materials, drawing package, and test procedure get a design onto a factory line.
You read electrical single-lines, equipment schedules, and mechanical drawings well enough to catch a problem before the engineer does.
You have managed component suppliers and sub-supplier qualification to a design schedule.
You write clear, short status that an executive can act on and an engineer will not dispute.
Bonus: Electrical engineering degree or PE license. UL 891, UL 1558, or IEEE C37 product certification experience. New product introduction in a low-volume, high-mix factory.
