We're looking for an experienced
Technical Managerto join our
Athabasca OSB Division, located in
Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the
longest continuous press in North America, giving us the ability to produce a diverse range of innovative products for customers around the world.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Experience in leading the organization and supervision of technical aspects of process improvements, technology, research and development.
- Demonstratedknowledge of OSB/EWP (Engineered Wood Products) manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Strongstatistical knowledge andcomputer literacy.
- Degree or diploma in Wood Science, Forestry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
In this role, you will:
- Lead with a strong focus on safety.
- Serve as an active member of both the site Leadership Team and the Tolko Product Quality & Technical Group.
- Provide feedbackand support to our Process Specialists/Engineers .
- Assist in thedevelopment and improvement of products and processes.
- Works with the Product Quality & Technical Group on the deployment, ongoing execution, and continuous improvement of the Tolko Quality Management System (TQM 9000) at site.
- Lead and resolve quality issues within areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with production goals and safety standards.
- Investigate site related customer claims & complaints and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay on top of new industry developments and standards in technology and customer satisfaction in order torecommend, plan, and organize actionsthat will keep the mill current.
- Interact with our Sales and Production teamsand keep the product cost model current.
- Use your knowledge of code requirements, third-party testing agencies and experience in statistical process control toplan,organize and implement resin or mill trials.
