This is a fully on-site position based in Miami, Florida. Candidates must currently reside in the Miami area.We are seeking a Technical Lead to drive the architecture, technical direction, and delivery of an event-driven microservices platform built on AWS. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, requiring deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and ensure scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions.
What You Can Expect (Responsibilities)- Define and own the architecture of Java/Spring Boot microservices and distributed systems.
- Lead the design of event-driven solutions, including messaging, streaming, and distributed transaction patterns.
- Establish API standards, governance, versioning strategies, and integration best practices.
- Guide engineering teams through technical decisions, code reviews, and delivery execution.
- Partner with business and product stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive observability, resilience, security, performance, and AWS cost optimization initiatives.
- Evaluate technologies, remove technical blockers, and support long-term platform evolution.
Requirements- 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including 4+ years leading development teams or technical initiatives.
- Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture design.
- Strong experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures using AWS services such as Kinesis, SQS, and SNS.
- Hands-on experience with distributed transactions, saga patterns, and orchestration strategies.
- Strong AWS architecture experience, including API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, compute, networking, and security services.
- Experience defining observability strategies and implementing monitoring, tracing, and alerting solutions.
- Proven ability to lead engineers, drive technical decisions, and establish development standards.
Nice to Have- Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
- Experience with orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Camunda, or AWS Step Functions.
- Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD expertise (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
- Financial services or payments industry experience.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development, LLM-based solutions, MCP, RAG, and AI governance practices.
