Full Job Description
Responsibilities

Every intelligence product that leaves USCYBERCOM J2 carries the credibility of the command behind it. Peraton is looking for a Technical Editor to be the last line of quality assurance — ensuring that finished intelligence products are analytically sound, clearly written, properly classified, and fully compliant with IC publication standards before they reach decision-makers.

This isn't just proofreading. You'll work directly with analysts and production teams to sharpen narrative structure, enforce IC tradecraft standards, and elevate the overall quality of one of the most consequential intelligence enterprises in the U.S. government at Fort Meade, MD.

What You'll Do
  • Review intelligence products for proper grammar, punctuation, syntax, logic, clarity, and internal consistency
  • Ensure style and format conform to agency publication standards and prescribed IC style guides
  • Verify that language presentation aligns with specialized intelligence vocabulary and IC guidance
  • Amend draft tables, tone boxes, and graphics to ensure visual content supports and reinforces accompanying text
  • Enforce proper classification markings in strict accordance with IC guidance (ICD 710)
  • Collaborate with authors to revise products for narrative organization and analytical coherence; negotiate further revisions as needed
  • Assist in managing all J2 finished intelligence products approved for external dissemination
  • Analyze, interpret, cross-check, and edit intelligence products for accuracy and compliance with IC standards
  • Assist in determining and supervising the production process for completed materials
  • Author and maintain Operating Instructions (OIs) for Command-wide programs and initiatives

  • Proficiency with IC style guides and standards — ICD 206, 209, 501, and 710 — with deep familiarity with intelligence and cyber terminology
  • Working knowledge of IC publication standards, classification marking requirements, and editorial best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to review and edit complex intelligence products for accuracy, clarity, and compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Exceptional grammar, punctuation, and writing skills

Preferred:

  • Background in intelligence product editing, technical writing, or IC publication management
