This role offers an opportunity to work on complex, high-impact accounting and reporting matters across a growing, acquisitive organization. The Technical Accounting Manager will serve as the technical accounting lead on acquisitions, including ASC 805 purchase accounting and the onboarding of newly acquired companies, while also evaluating evolving accounting and SEC guidance, researching and documenting complex transactions, and partnering with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and counsel. The ideal candidate combines strong U.S. GAAP and technical accounting expertise with sound judgment, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Onboarding & ASC 805 Purchase Accounting
Lead the review of ASC 805 opening balance sheets and purchase price allocations for all acquisitions.
Coordinate with third-party valuation providers and review their fair value analyses for reasonableness and consistency with U.S. GAAP.
Own and continuously improve the onboarding program for newly acquired operating companies, including the playbook, timeline, standard deliverables, and repeatable frameworks and templates that scale as deal volume increases.
Serve as the technical accounting lead throughout the acquisition lifecycle, from diligence support through closing and subsequent reporting.
Technical Accounting & Complex Matters
Perform technical accounting research to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and prepare timely memorandums documenting key issues, conclusions, and policies for complex and non-routine transactions.
Monitor and evaluate changes to the Accounting Standards Codification (ASC), SEC regulations, and other regulatory reporting requirements; lead the implementation of new standards, pronouncements, and policies and communicate their impact on the company's financial reporting.
Manage the lease accounting process from initial recognition through financial reporting.
Collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders on technical accounting and reporting matters, including resolving audit inquiries and fostering strong working relationships through open, transparent communication to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare financial statement disclosures related to technical accounting areas and assist in the review of SEC reporting requirements.
Assess, reach conclusions on, and provide guidance regarding the accounting impact of proposed business initiatives, potential and completed transactions (including divestitures), and contracts in partnership with business units and finance teams.
Develop and enhance accounting policies and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, documentation standards, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Ensure SOX 404 compliance for areas of responsibility, including periodic updates to process narratives.
Train, mentor, and review the work of accounting team members on technical accounting topics.
Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives, special projects, and ad hoc requests, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold high ethical standards when interacting with employees, auditors, business partners, and investors.

Extensive experience preparing and reviewing ASC 805 materials and comfort navigating other complex technical matters.

What We're Looking For
A hands-on contributor who does technical work directly; this position involves real execution, not just review and supervision.

An independent self-starter who is at ease with uncertainty, able to create structure and processes from the ground up, and prepared to meet demanding, evolving deadlines amid a steady flow of transactions.
An effective communicator who explains complex accounting concepts in practical terms for nonaccounting partners and engages with confidence and credibility when working with auditors and senior leadership.
A meticulous professional who holds technical documentation and financial reporting to the highest standard of accuracy.
A genuinely passionate technical accountant who is eager to expand their U.S. GAAP expertise, is self-directed in research and analysis, and brings dependable follow-through and well-reasoned judgment.
A collaborative colleague who is energized by helping build and scale a growing organization and approaches every assignment with a constructive, team-first outlook.
