Job DescriptionLocation: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital
Schedule: 40 hours per week; 6:30a-5pm; No weekends or holidays.
Unit Overview:The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) within Surgical Services at Henry Ford Jackson is a specialized, high-acuity surgical environment focused on the care of cardiac and vascular patients in a Level II Trauma setting. The team supports a wide range of complex procedures, including open vascular, endovascular, CABG, and valve surgeries, operating under a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. CVOR nurses function primarily as circulating nurses, coordinating all aspects of patient care during procedures-maintaining the sterile field, supporting the surgical and anesthesia teams, monitoring patient status, and ensuring readiness of equipment and supplies in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
The department is a close-knit team of approximately 12 members who operate with a strong sense of collaboration and mutual support, creating a "family-like" culture where teamwork, anticipation, and accountability are essential. Staff receive a structured 3-6-month orientation tailored to their experience level. This unit is ideal for experienced nurses seeking advanced surgical expertise in a highly specialized field while working in a supportive, team-driven environment.
Provides clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care in the cardiovascular operating room environment. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education.
