Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Heavy Industries, the Team Lead - Mechanical Engineering will oversee a dynamic and motivated team of industrial mechanical, process, and piping engineers and technicians. The successful candidate will also contribute to the design and delivery of large-scale, challenging industrial projects. As a recognized and inspiring leader, you will be responsible for the effective management of the team, the development of employee competencies, and the achievement of the department's performance objectives. You will motivate and empower team members in the delivery of innovative technical solutions and project management excellence.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supervising your team (identifying resource requirements, developing employee competencies, providing technical guidance, ensuring health and safety training, assigning resources to appropriate projects, conducting annual performance and professional development reviews, etc.);
  • Managing projects and ensuring compliance of deliverables while maintaining project profitability;
  • Advising and supporting clients, and coordinating activities with other professionals and stakeholders;
  • Leading and overseeing the design, estimation, and preparation of plans and specifications within your discipline;
  • Participating in site supervision activities to ensure quality and compliance with plans and specifications;
  • Contributing to the preparation of service proposals and project planning activities;
  • Collaborating with other team leads to balance workloads and build project teams;
  • Supporting the strategic development of the service line in partnership with the Regional Senior Director.

Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer and member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering or industrial engineering, including significant experience in industrial process mechanical engineering and/or piping;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in project management (schedules, resources, budgets, etc.);
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate a vision, inspire others, and foster a high level of team engagement;
  • Good knowledge of French, spoken and written is considered and important asset

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
