Full Job Description
What you can expect as a Team Lead, Aircraft Maintenance at West Star:

The Team Leads responsibility is to supervise a team and direct project flow. In addition to leadership skills, this position requires extensive knowledge of engine and aircraft systems, including the ability to troubleshoot in the areas of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems. This position also supervises the inspection of aircraft or mechanical systems. Job duties will vary each day and will encompass projects as coordinated with the Program Manager. Will be required to work independently and lead multiple projects. Will have direct customer contact and supervise programs and customer sales.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
  • Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of aviation maintenance and services technicians, foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and enhance technician skills through on-the-job training and performance coaching. Participate in hiring and disciplinary matters while conducting quarterly performance assessments and feedback. Ideal candidate as a successor to the Program or Project Manager and receives mentoring as well.
  • Program Operations: Provide daily oversight of assigned technicians to include setting technician work schedules and being available to support meeting aircraft deliveries, reviewing time charges and daily manpower scheduling. Collaborate with assigned Leads to ensure adequate manpower, parts and other resource needs for project success. Partner with other Team Leads to adjust manpower by team to ensure program goals and aircraft schedules are met accordingly.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all team members and customers.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and compliance with company quality assurance guidelines.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate and conduct training programs to equip team members with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively and build skill proficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and implement strategies to optimize team workflows, efficiency, and overall productivity.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance of service center tools, equipment, and hangar spaces to ensure adequate availability and proper storage or working order. Address concerns and needs timely to the Program Manager.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Ensure all assigned team members maintain accurate and up-to-date records of activities, to include work orders, R&I forms, parts tags, resolutions, reports, and relevant documentation.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.


What you'll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required.
Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.
A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience:
10 years' experience on aircraft maintenance preferred.
4+ years on program specific aircraft.
These technicians possess a high level of leadership knowledge and will provide daily supervision of the team assigned to them.
Team Leads have a direct impact on the department as a whole and are the go to person for technicians and customers.

Your Initiative:

Leading and providing incentive to other team members as well as dealing with customers directly to include areas of conflict with be the norm.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Develop, supervise and grow maintenance program on particular models.

Supervision
Work under supervision of assigned Program Manager and Director of Maintenance.
Directly supervise other technicians.
Minimal supervision from the Program Manager.
Work with other Team Leaders on multiple projects in a cooperative manner.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
Personal computer and work order prints.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $45.00 - $53.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
