Summary of the RoleWe are seeking a Tax Senior/Manager with 5+ years of public accounting experience to work on-site in our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in tax, excellent client service skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects. Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation and Review:
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns prepared by staff accountants.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
- Provide tax planning strategies to clients to minimize tax liabilities.
- Advise clients on tax implications of business decisions.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate their impact to clients.
Client Management:
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns.
- Communicate proactively, clearly and effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Understands engagement/project profitability and effectively communicates status/issues
Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor, train, evaluate and provide feedback to staff accountants and interns.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the completion of high-quality work.
- Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
Operational and Technical Excellence:
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently and efficiently.
- Act as "champion" in either technology area and/or specialized technical knowledge area.
- Identify and resolve issues that may impact engagement quality or efficiency.
- Share best practices and time-saving techniques with team members.
RequirementsQualificationsExperience
- At least 5+ years of current experience in public accounting required, with a focus on Tax Preparation.
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
- Proficiency in Thomson Reuters software suite, QuickBooks (desktop and online) and Excel preferred.
