Job Description

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Tax Senior Associate to join the team in one of our New York Metro offices.

CohnReznick is a hybrid firm and most of our professionals are located within a commutable distance to one of our offices. This position is considered hybrid which means team members are expected to be thoughtful and intentional in how they create opportunities for in-person collaboration. While the cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level, our professionals are encouraged to be in the office/together in person on average 3 days a week.

YOUR TEAM.

This position is rooted within the Private Client Services practice, with a particular emphasis on serving clients in the entertainment industry. In addition to entertainers and creative professionals, our client base includes Family Offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and entrepreneurs whose financial lives often span multiple business endeavors, investments, and personal interests. We work closely with clients to provide proactive guidance and a highly customized service experience designed to support their evolving needs. The practice has a particular emphasis on supporting touring musicians and other entertainment professionals with their tax preparation and accounting needs.

YOUR ROLE.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Serve as the engagement lead on specific client accounts
  • Take responsibility for pre-engagement planning, execution, and final deliverables
  • Experience preparing and reviewing partnership (1065), S corporation (1120S), corporate (1120), trust (1041), and individual (1040) tax returns, including complex Schedule K-1 reporting and pass-through entity taxation.
  • Analyze and manage tax implications flowing from partnerships and S corporations to individual owners and family groups.
  • Must be able to perform various financial analysis including but not limited to balance sheets and income statements
  • Experience in managing the process of financial statement preparation of compilations and reviews is a plus
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual year-end tax projections
  • Willing to work on various ad hoc projects as needed during the year
  • Actively participate in proposals
  • Gain the respect and confidence of the CR team through effective client management, timely and accurate communication, and clear and concise direction and leadership

YOUR EXPERIENCE.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's in Accounting/Taxation preferred
  • CPA, JD or EA preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years tax+accounting experience in a public accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, S corporations, and Schedule K-1 reporting.
  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals, business owners, family offices, entertainers, or clients with complex multi-entity structures preferred.
  • Ability to identify and address tax issues spanning both entity-level and individual taxation
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Strong tax research and writing skills
  • Proven technical skills with MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Competence with tax compliance and research software to include Go Systems, BNA portfolio and projection, CCH, RIA
  • Solid project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
