What you will do:

  • Prepare technical memoranda, tax analyses, opinion support, and other written work products addressing complex tax issues
  • Research federal income tax issues and strategies and assist in providing technical advice to engagement teams and clients
  • Assist in providing tax advocacy and controversy services on civil matters, make recommendations to the client for consideration, and represent clients for IRS notice responses, penalty abatement requests, and other IRS negotiations
  • Assist with tax analysis of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, financings, and internal restructurings
  • Assist in the continued development and growth of Baker Tilly's tax opinion and technical consulting practice
  • Assist in developing internal and external thought leadership, articles, presentations, webinars, and training materials
  • Work directly with team members and senior leaders primarily within the corporate, partnership, and controversy practices
  • Collaborate with professionals across international tax, accounting methods, compensation and benefits, SALT, ASC 740, and other specialty practices on multidisciplinary projects

Qualifications

• Three (3)+ years of experience in corporate tax, partnership tax, M&A tax, tax controversy, or a related technical tax specialty required
• Demonstrated experience researching and analyzing complex federal income tax issues
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting technical memoranda and tax analyses
• Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
• Demonstrated commitment to technical excellence, continuous learning, and exceptional client service
• Interest in developing specialized expertise and serving as a technical resource within a national tax organization

The pay rate range for this job position is $81,450 to $154,430. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
