We are seeking a Real Estate Tax Partner to join our growing tax practice in the Rockville, MD office. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of our Rockville practice, drive growth, and make a significant impact on both the Firm and our clients. Situated in the heart of the Washington, DC metro corridor, this position provides access to a dynamic and sophisticated real estate market encompassing commercial development, federal contractor-driven demand, mixed-use redevelopment, and high-net-worth private investors. Limited regional travel may be required; relocation assistance may be offered.
Key Responsibilities- Serve real estate clients across a range of asset classes and ownership structures, delivering sophisticated tax planning and compliance solutions including cost segregation, 1031 exchanges, opportunity zone strategies, and real estate professional status analysis.
- Specialize in pass-through entity taxation (partnerships and S corporations) with a focus on complex 1040 compliance and planning for real estate investors, operators, and developers.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering exceptional service and high-quality execution of engagements.
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers and staff, fostering professional growth and a collaborative team environment.
- Contribute to business development by leveraging your professional network, identifying new opportunities, and expanding services to existing clients across the greater DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia market.
- Collaborate across service lines and offices, embracing the Firm's "one firm" culture and commitment to colleagues' success.
Qualifications- Active CPA license required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of real estate taxation, including the tax and business advisory needs of real estate investors, developers, and operators.
- Significant experience in pass-through entity taxation (partnerships and S corporations) and complex individual (1040) tax compliance and planning.
- Experience with complex federal, multi-state, individual, and partnership compliance and planning.
- Strong leadership and staff development skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and guiding clients.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
