Full Job Description
The Tax Officer prepares all necessary tax authority filing requirements for clients of Private Wealth Management, either directly or through outsourced vendor resources. In this role, you will review federal and state estate, fiduciary, individual and other tax returns. You will also provide valuable input to the development of tax planning strategies, articulating these to Trust Officers, Relationship Managers, clients, and other internal and external constituents. Fiduciary knowledge is a plus in this role.

Responsibilities:

Tax Management & Advisory
  • Review federal and state estate, fiduciary, individual, and entity tax returns. Tax preparation of the returns will also be required, as needed.
  • Research and analyze tax questions and stay informed regarding new or proposed changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide input to the development of tax planning strategies.
  • Advise Trust Officers, Relationship Managers, attorneys, and accountants on tax matters which affect the management of accounts.
  • Develop and review tax plans to minimize overall estate and income taxes, with support from the Senior Tax Officer.
  • Analyze tax matters and drive appropriate business decisions by making recommendations and involving key business resources.
  • Ensure that records and information pertinent to taxes and trust accounts are properly maintained through maintenance of tax work paper files.
  • Create financial statements and perform bookkeeping entries for individuals and entities like partnerships, corporations, and private foundations.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with Knowledge of CCH ProSystem
  • CPA preferred
  • Ability to effectively articulate complex tax provisions and tax planning strategies
  • Strong technical tax knowledge and experience
  • Strong understanding of portfolio accounting and related systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word
  • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Ability to utilize tax research software to perform tax research


Salary Range

NY: $110,000 - $150,000 base salary + annual bonus
