QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or law degree required
- 5+ years of SALT experience in public accounting, with a focus on state income & franchise tax compliance, consulting, and controversy
- Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing staff
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify advisory/consulting opportunities
- Client-centric mindset
- Strong presentation skills
- Proficiency in CCH or comparable tax software
- Indirect tax experience a plus
- Ability to travel up to 10%
RESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as a client-facing leader within HBK's SALT Center of Excellence Advisory Practice
- Deliver proactive, high-quality compliance, consulting, and controversy services
- Review income and franchise tax returns and provide feedback to relevant team members
- Train and develop team members on income and franchise tax matters
- Partner with Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to identify and pursue advisory opportunities
- Ensure client and team satisfaction through clear communication, deadline management, and proactive tax-saving strategies
- Supervise and mentor associates and senior associates on engagement responsibilities and deadlines
- Support domestic and international team growth as business needs evolve
- Develop and deliver subject-matter presentations and assist with proposals
- Travel to client and internal meetings as needed (~10%)
- Build new client relationships and expand business with existing clients
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes and advise clients on implications
- Engage in business development through networking and community representation
- Uphold the Firm's culture, values, and client service principles
- Model strong communication, judgment, and leadership to inspire the same in others
BENEFITS WE OFFER:- Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000/year + Annual Bonus The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
