Position OverviewThe Tax Manager is responsible for leading client tax engagements, managing client relationships, and delivering tax compliance and planning services with minimal partner involvement. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys client interaction, mentoring staff, and taking ownership of engagements from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities- Lead tax engagements in accordance with firm and professional standards, deadlines, and budgets
- Prepare, review, and approve federal and state income tax returns
- Assist with trust, estate, and gift tax returns as needed
- Research and resolve complex tax issues related to compliance and planning
- Consult with clients and provide proactive tax planning guidance
- Serve as the primary client contact, managing relationships with a high level of professionalism and responsiveness
- Prepare and review responses to IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
- Assist with and manage client billing
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously and efficiently
- Train and mentor interns, staff, and senior accountants
- Participate in firm initiatives, projects, and leadership opportunities
- Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information
- Stay current on tax laws through continuing education and professional development
Required Qualifications- Minimum of 5 years of tax preparation and/or review experience in public accounting
- CPA license or Enrolled Agent designation required for Tax Manager level
- Strong knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code
- Experience with UltraTax or similar tax software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication, organization, and client service skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Desire to continue learning and contribute to a collaborative team
