As a member of our Credits, Incentives and Methods – Energy and Excise team, you willadviseclients who are developing innovative clean energy projects and advisethem on implementation of the provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. You will also work on excise tax technical issues and controversymatters. Background in energy industry is highly desirable
Responsibilities
• Manage collaborative team advising clients on federal energy credits and excise tax.
• Developed industry and technicalexpertisewith federal energy credits and / or excise tax.
• Directly consult with clients and engagement teams.
• Serve asin-charge on projects; oversee day-to-day tasks, delegate to staff, lead internal meetings, and coordinate projects with clients.
• Review credit computations, workpapers, tax opinions, andsupportingmaterials; manage client relationships and expectations, ensuring quality and efficiency; support sales of potential projects.
• Understand and address creditutilizationissues including general business credit limitation, other limitations, and risk limitations.
• Analyze and understand the materiality and risk of a problem/issue and discuss solutions and implications with project leaders/partners.
• Competent at performing technicalreviewof relevant forms for correctness and evaluation forissues and exposure.
• Ability to review client andprospectinformation to look for planning opportunities.
• Initiate client service planning meetings to develop a plan to become the first-choice advisor;participatein developing client service plans for the firm’s priority and crown jewel clients.
• Analyze and understand the audit risk on materiality issues and estimates; adequately document and discuss implications and solutions with the client.
• Supportcontroversymatters with taxing authority.
• Proficient with basic features of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficient in creating Pivot Tables and other relevant advanced Excel functions where specializationdeemsappropriate
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accountingor related field from an accredited university
One of the following is required: active CPA license in the state of residence or primary office; active Enrolled Agent (EA) license; active Attorney license; or a pre‑approved alternative certification that meets RSM requirements
• Minimum five years of Tax experience
• Strong computer skills, includingproficiencyin Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrates the abilityto meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance withfirm and client standards.
• Communicatesclearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means.
• Demonstrates effectiveproject management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintainaccuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client service environment.
• Works effectivelyin a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer and other standard office equipment.
• Maintainsa consistent onsite presence during core business hours, regularly reporting to a firmoffice location and traveling to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation.
• Demonstrates flexibility to workextended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs.
PreferredQualifications
• Masters in Taxationor LL.M (Taxation)
• Project Management Professional Certification
• Experience working with federal tax credits, especially energy and excise taxes and clean energy credits

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $189,200
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
