Role Summary

The Tax Director is responsible for leading the Company's global tax function, including tax strategy, compliance, planning, accounting, reporting, audit support, and risk management. This role provides strategic tax guidance to executive leadership and business partners, oversees the Company's domestic and international tax obligations, manages relationships with outside advisors and tax authorities, and ensures the tax function operates with strong technical expertise, sound controls, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and manage the Tax Department, including staffing, coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.
  • Define and execute the Company's global tax strategy in alignment with business objectives, cash flow priorities, risk tolerance, and long-term growth plans.
  • Oversee federal, state, local, and international income tax compliance, including consolidated federal income tax returns, state income and franchise tax filings, estimated payments, and related reporting requirements.
  • Direct the preparation and review of the Company's income tax provision and related tax accounting matters in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage tax planning, research, and documentation for complex domestic and international matters, including transfer pricing, R&D credits, foreign tax credits, earnings and profits, Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, withholding taxes, and other relevant tax positions.
  • Provide tax support for strategic transactions and business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, legal entity structuring, international expansion, intercompany arrangements, and cash repatriation strategies.
  • Oversee global non-income tax matters, including sales and use tax, property tax, VAT/GST, and expatriate tax compliance, in partnership with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Serve as the primary contact for tax audits and inquiries from the IRS, state agencies, and foreign tax authorities; coordinate responses and support the Company's tax positions.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting guidance; assess business impact and communicate recommendations to leadership.
  • Drive process improvement, tax technology adoption, documentation standards, and internal controls to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of the tax function.


Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in accounting (emphasis in Tax preferred) or a related field.
  • 10 or more years of progressive tax experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or similar environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal consolidated corporate income tax, multi-state income and franchise tax, and tax accounting under GAAP.
  • Experience leading tax compliance, tax planning, tax provision, and audit support activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals.
  • Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with tax research tools, tax software, and financial systems.
  • High degree of professional judgment, integrity, confidentiality, and personal accountability.
