  • Develop and enhance tax systems, processes, and policies.

About the role:

We are seeking a Director of Tax to lead our tax function during a period of rapid growth and transformation. As the Director of Tax, you will own and lead the end-to-end tax function. You will refine our overall global tax strategy and tax optimization initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of public company tax experience, technical expertise in crypto/digital assets, and proven leadership in scaling teams and systems from early stage through IPO and beyond.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead all planning and tax strategy at Digital Asset
  • Responsible for tax financial reporting and compliance for our US and foreign entities
  • Lead tax audits and examinations in all jurisdictions
  • Manage external advisors and transition, where appropriate from managing external providers to internal processes
  • Manage and ensure all provisions and transfer pricing reflect our relevant financial reporting
  • Develop and improve tax systems, process and policies at Digital Asset
  • Create management reporting on tax on monthly, quarterly and annual basis, as well as any ad hoc requests
  • Collaborate with accounting, legal, operations, HR and compliance on cross-functional initiatives

What We're Looking For:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Tax preferably within a high-growth technology, FinTech, or Digital Asset/Blockchain company
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA, JD/LLM, or Masters in Taxation (MST) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in public company environment and SOX 404 compliance
  • Exceptional financial modeling and advanced Excel / Sheets skills; proven ability to build clean, flexible, and dynamic models from scratch
  • Experience at a crypto/blockchain or fintech company strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in IPO prep, public listing, or being part of a newly public company
  • Experience with diverse technical tax areas including global indirect tax (VAT/GST/Sales Tax), the maximization of R&D credits, and the tax implications of global equity compensation.
  • Familiarity with crypto-native accounting systems (e.g. Bitwave, TaxBit)
  • Familiarity with reporting/BI tools a plus
  • Proven leadership and ability to build teams and processes
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude balanced with strategic thinking
  • Experience with international entities / consolidations


The range below may vary if based outside the New York tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut). Base salaries are determined during our interview process, during which we assess the candidate's experience, skills, and capabilities against internal peers and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
