Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership and end-to-end systems engineering expertise for mission-critical defense and intelligence systems in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will analyze user requirements, develop system architecture and design documentation, guide operational integration, and ensure the technical integrity of system baselines across the full lifecycle. You will act as a primary technical liaison with Government overseers and cross-functional teams, translating complex operational needs into scalable, verifiable, and secure architectures.
The annual base salary range for this role is $171,000-$202,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required SkillsSystems Architecture & Frameworks: Hands-on experience developing system design, architecture, and operational views using standards like DoDAF (Department of Defense Architecture Framework) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Requirements Analysis & Management: Proven ability to elicit stakeholder needs, derive system/subsystem requirements (including Information Assurance and derived security requirements), and maintain baseline traceability using formal change management processes.
Technical Leadership & Lifecycle Management: Experience leading technical design reviews, guiding cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and coordinating Configuration Control Board (CCB) action items.
Documentation & Planning: Demonstrated expertise preparing key technical deliverables such as Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), Interface Control Documents (ICD), Requirements Specifications, and System Integration & Test Plans.
Verification & Testing: Experience establishing evaluation criteria, method definitions, error budgets, and process allocations to verify system components against functional requirements.
Risk Management & Process Allocation: Proficiency in program risk assessment, timeline analysis, quantitative performance analysis (reliability, maintainability, survivability), and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) reviews.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management, PLUS
14+ years of professional systems engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
19+ years of hands-on technical systems engineering and architecture experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills- JCIDS & C&A Support: Experience supporting the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents (ICD, CDD) and Government Certification & Accreditation (C&A) / Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
- Operational Concepts: Strong background in developing operational concept scenarios (threads) that detail interactions between systems, users, and operational environments.
- Interface Repository Management: Experience defining, design-capturing, and managing common interface control formats within accessible repositories.
