Full Job Description
As a Systems Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in the design, development and delivery of cutting-edge optical sensor solutions required for advanced semiconductor fabrication. In this role, you will be part of the Advanced Development Team, reporting to the Principal Optical Architect. You Will Make an Impact By: • Leading integration of opto-mechanical subcomponents of new products. • Defining requirements for new products and new product characterization. • Designing and executing tests to support leading-edge optical sensor development projects. • Designing test equipment to evaluate subcomponents and fully built products. • Supporting mechanical design and prototyping of opto-mechanical sensor technology platforms and test fixtures. • Understanding multi-disciplinary system issues and providing improvement action plans. • Analyzing, compiling, and presenting test results to the project team. • Using statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw data-based conclusions. • Handling aggressive deadlines with agility and results driven approach. Skills You Bring: • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or other engineering degrees from a related field). • 2+ years of related experience. • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary projects and autonomously driving the identification and validation of project requirements, risks and solution pathways. • Proven ability to design, optimize, and validate the integration of mechanical/optical/electrical subcomponents for complex systems and instrumentation. • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software as a design and documentation tool. • Proficiency with data analysis and statistics; experience with MATLAB, JMP or Minitab desirable. • Flexible and willing to work in a very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often. • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and a proven ability to collaborate with team members in a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment. • A desire to learn and grow in a proactive, collaborative environment. • Demonstrated ability for detailed hands-on work. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail. • Proactive, self-starter, and safety conscious. Preferred Skills: • Experience assembling bench top optics. • Knowledge of semiconductor process tooling is a plus. • Proficiency with Python, LabView, or other equipment automation methods. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time. • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum/pressure systems. • Flexible and willing to work in a very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often. • Excellent time management skills and commitment to meet deadlines. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
