Job SummaryWe are looking for a Systems Engineer I to join our broadband engineering team. In this role, you will support the integration, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of broadband CPE-including gateways, cable modems, fiber ONUs, and Wi-Fi-while helping maintain lab and production-support infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will build skills in system administration, networking, automation, and troubleshooting. You will work with cross-functional teams to support deployments, run tests, investigate issues, and help keep broadband services reliable.
ResponsibilitiesScope of Work:- Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of lab and production-support systems (servers, networking, cloud) under guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with integration and validation of broadband CPE (gateways, cable modems, fiber ONUs, Wi-Fi) into the production architecture.
- Help monitor system and CPE health; investigate issues; escalate complex faults.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, Wi-Fi, and network issues with the team; document findings.
- Use Python, PowerShell, or Bash to support testing, monitoring, and repeatable lab tasks, with review.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security on releases, incidents, and hardening.
- Create and maintain topologies, MOPs, change logs, and troubleshooting guides.
Collaboration and Documentation:- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network topologies, including traffic flow and interconnectivity.
- Create detailed troubleshooting guides for device and network failures.
- Create change management & deployment logs to track system updates and upgrades to ensure stability.
- Write clear and concise workflow documents, emails, presentations, and thought leadership materials.
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Master's is a plus
- Experience: 1-2 years in systems engineering
- Working knowledge of Linux; Windows is a plus
- Working knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
Required Technical Skills:- Wi-Fi technologies: Familiarity with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax; ability to troubleshoot signal, interference, and capacity with guidance
- Broadband gateway platforms: Familiarity with RDK-B gateways, DOCSIS cable modems, and/or fiber ONUs, including provisioning, troubleshooting, and firmware validation in lab or production-support environments
- Linux / Unix: Working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL): CLI, services, logs, users, and system resources
- Scripting: Python or Bash (coursework, lab, or internship). Ability to follow MOPs for change management
- Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SNMP, IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, WAN/LAN. Ability to configure and troubleshoot using standard tools
Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00 - $126,684.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire and does not reflect future job opportunity.
