Position: Systems Engineer Cybersecurity

About the Role:

Nexteer is looking for motivated people to work in the product security engineering group. Work with a team of automotive cybersecurity engineers to participate in the development of security work products. Actively participate in creation of Item definitions, structured Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment, Security concepts, and OEM requirement analysis. As a team member you will learn the automotive cybersecurity process from the beginning of requirement analysis to release for production.

Automotive Cybersecurity engineering is a rapidly evolving area that is focused on the protection of automotive embedded controllers. New regulations and standards have been developed to structure and enforce the cybersecurity processes. Hackers never stop and the protection of automotive vehicles is becoming more difficult as the connectivity and number of embedded controllers grows, which results in high demand for security experts. In this role, you will have possibility to cooperate with other Security Engineers globally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer Cybersecurity , you will be responsible to:

  • Review and evaluate customer security requirements
  • Develop security concept through a structured process that involves threat analysis and risk assessment.
  • Support concept implementation through the product development phases to include hardware, software, and manufacturing.
  • Develop solutions to address the vulnerabilities found through system and software analysis
  • Support customer meetings to discuss and plan Cyber Security related activities
  • Develop work products that follow the ISO/SAE 21434 Road Vehicle Cybersecurity Engineering standard.
  • Cross train in ISO/SAE 26262 Road Vehicles - Functional Safety. Our group is both safety and cybersecurity, and team members learn both topics so they can provide cross-functional support


Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in in product cybersecurity or related areas
  • Familiarity with embedded control modules (hardware and/or software)
  • Familiarity with automotive networks
  • Familiarity with microprocessor communications peripherals and memory architectures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a desire to work with people
  • Experience embedded security mechanisms preferred
  • Experience with penetration testing on communications networks and hardware I/O preferred
  • Experience with encryption and authentication methods/standards like AES, RSA, ECC, SHA preferred
  • Background in automotive engineering and chassis systems preferred
  • Familiarity with standardized software development process models (i.e. ASPICE) preferred
  • Knowledge of project management processes and tools preferred
  • Certification in ISO 21434 preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262


Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Science
