Full Job Description
AWS Security is looking for a driven Systems Development Engineer to build and maintain the automation that enables security assurance at scale. You will work among a larger team to prototype and productize Generative AI-enabled security tooling, continuous-monitoring systems, and evidence pipelines that sustain a valid Authorization to Operate (ATO).
As a SysDev, you will own the health, security, and automation of this critical capability, producing infrastructure as code and robust operational monitoring that scales with our growing infrastructure and minimizes manual effort. You will build extensible tooling that delights internal customers, and make sure the entire deployment process is performant, automated, and well tested to keep development iteration fast and unhindered by operational misses.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and build security assurance automation: continuous-monitoring systems and evidence pipelines that sustain the ATO.
- Turn prototypes into production, including producing infrastructure as code (IaC) and automated deployment and configuration management.
- Create operational monitoring and alerting that scales with the infrastructure.
- Automate routine tasks so the team stays quick and agile, and keep the deployment process performant, automated, and well tested.
- Partner with internal customers to understand operational challenges and deliver solutions, often requiring deep technical expertise.
A day in the life
On a typical day, you dive into the security assurance evidence pipeline: you'll work within a Scrum to automate a control-evidence collection step that engineers were doing by hand, then push it through CI/CD so it is tested and repeatable. You extend a continuous-monitoring check, wire its output into the organization's alerting. Midday, you meet with internal customers to understand security assurance pain points and scope tooling to solve it. By afternoon, you are inspecting health metrics, and finding operational bottlenecks to remove.
