Job Description
You own the servers and virtual infrastructure under a national mission system: Red Hat, VMware and Windows Server, automated with Ansible, patched on schedule and proven recoverable, with a move to the cloud to help deliver. Full time, W-2, based in Fairfax, Virginia with some telework, starting October 2026.
What you will do- Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server hosts and the VMware virtualization layer across production and recovery environments.
- Patch operating systems and firmware on the customer's cycle, maintain configuration baselines, and remediate vulnerability findings within federal timelines.
- Automate with Red Hat Ansible and Bash: builds, configuration, compliance checks and routine operations.
- Run monitoring and capacity management, routine inspections and backup checks.
- Support backup and recovery at the infrastructure layer and take part in the annual disaster recovery exercise.
- Support the migration of workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and the orderly decommissioning of legacy infrastructure.
- Serve in the 24x7 on-call rotation.
What you need- 10 or more years of enterprise systems administration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- 10 or more years of VMware administration.
- 5 or more years supporting web-based applications and databases on the infrastructure you run.
- 2 or more years with Red Hat Ansible and Bash scripting.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain an HHS Tier 2 public trust determination.
What sets a candidate apart- Cloud infrastructure experience (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure Government or AWS GovCloud).
- RHCSA or RHCE; VMware VCP.
- DISA STIG hardening and FISMA continuous monitoring.
- Infrastructure under Oracle E-Business Suite.

- Hybrid: based at SPN's office in Fairfax, Virginia, with some telework; occasional days at the customer's Atlanta, Georgia campus when the work requires it
- Core hours 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern, Monday to Friday, with flexible start between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. Eastern; federal holidays off
- Part of a 24x7 on-call rotation for emergency response and critical system support; a company phone is provided
- Occasional travel within the continental United States, reimbursed
- You must be a U.S. citizen and obtain and keep an HHS Tier 2 (moderate risk) public trust determination; no security clearance is required
- You complete HHS security, privacy and records management training before access, and cGMP training shortly after you start
- Work is done on customer-furnished or SPN-furnished equipment under HHS security rules
