ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: HQ - Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Status: Full-time/100% on-site
Compensation: $115,000-$125,000 annually
Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator to manage and support our technology infrastructure for 200+ users across a hybrid Windows, macOS, and iOS environment.
Reporting to the Director of IT, this role oversees day-to-day system operations, cloud infrastructure, security, and a help desk team of five.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed problem-solver who takes ownership of both strategic initiatives and hands-on technical work.
Responsibilities:
Systems & Infrastructure
• Manage and maintain a hybrid Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS environment for 200+ users at HQ, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience.
• Administer Windows Server and Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and permissions.
• Administer Google Workspace and define security policies around data acess and user permissions.
• Implement and manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions — currently ManageEngine and Iru; create and enforce device policies.
• Continuously improve and maintain disaster recovery plans for all IT systems, including regular testing and execution exercises.
• Ensure compliance with relevant IT policies and regulations through comprehensive documentation.
Cloud & Network Administration
• Configure, manage, and monitor AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, Workspaces, Security Groups, and VPCs.
• Implement and monitor AWS solutions for critical systems, including cloud storage, disaster recovery, and backups.
• Manage and configure Meraki networking equipment; maintain network performance and reliability.
Security & Compliance
• Monitor and manage the full security stack, including CrowdStrike, Google Workspace security, Meraki, and Keepnet.
• Identify and remediate vulnerabilities; respond to and investigate security incidents and alerts.
• Apply ITSM/ITIL frameworks to security and operations processes and documentation.
Database, Automation & Inventory
• Manage and optimize MS SQL databases.
• Develop and maintain automation and integration workflows to streamline IT operations and reduce manual effort.
• Maintain accurate inventory control across assets, users, software, and network devices, including device lifecycle and purchasing.
Help Desk & Team Leadership
• Lead and manage a help desk team of 5 reporting to the Director of IT, overseeing day-to-day operations and ticket queue management.
• Provide third- and fourth-tier support to users and IT staff.
• Evaluate new software requests from staff and advise on technology decisions.
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT.
Vendor Management
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure consistent service delivery.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
• Proven experience managing a help desk team.
• Proven experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Strong understanding of AWS (EC2, Workspaces, Security Groups, VPCs, and monitoring tools).
• Experience with Meraki networking equipment and configuration.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, execution, and testing.
• Experience automating IT operations processes.
• Working knowledge of MS SQL administration.
• Experience with MDM solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including log analysis, root cause
identification, and solution documentation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Experience with CrowdStrike EDR.
• Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL frameworks.
• Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, or equivalent).
