Systems Engineer - SME to provide systems engineering, technical analysis, and software engineering expertise in support of a key U.S. Government customer.

Systems Engineer - SME who will be responsible for analyzing complex system and business requirements, translating customer needs into comprehensive hardware and software solutions, and providing technical leadership throughout the systems development lifecycle. The Systems Engineer will support requirements analysis, systems architecture, business process improvement, software development, cloud and network environments, technical documentation, and system integration activities.
The SME will collaborate closely with customers, developers, service providers, and technical teams to define requirements, develop integrated solutions, improve existing systems, and ensure technical solutions meet customer requirements within established cost, schedule, and performance constraints.
The Systems Engineer - SME shall possess the following capabilities:- Perform functional, timeline, cost, trade-off, requirements allocation, and interface analyses to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Analyze complex system requirements, functional business applications, and technical design specifications.
- Perform strategic systems planning, business information planning, and systems analysis.
- Apply business process improvement, re-engineering, and modernization methodologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Apply activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal controls, risk analysis, and performance measurement techniques.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining standards for information systems procedures.
- Collaborate with customers, team members, service providers, developers, and other stakeholders to identify, validate, and document requirements.
- Coordinate and integrate IT systems to improve interoperability, compatibility, and information sharing.
- Design, develop, and maintain software tools, subsystems, network environments, and cloud-based solutions.
- Develop analytical and computational techniques to identify and implement solutions to complex technical problems.
- Develop organization-wide information models supporting integrated software and database management systems.
- Develop system block diagrams, logic flow charts, data flow diagrams, and other technical design documentation.
- Translate detailed system designs into software solutions and provide technical direction to development teams.
- Enhance existing software and systems to improve performance, reduce operating time, and increase efficiency.
- Evaluate and refine systems to support new mission requirements, improve workflows, and expand operational capabilities.
- Develop estimates for software development costs and schedules and support technical planning activities.
- Ensure customer and product requirements are systematically translated into complete systems solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Manage software development and technical support activities using formal specifications, accepted engineering methodologies, and automated tools.
- Prepare program-level and user-level technical documentation.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support for computer, software, and system-related issues.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to software developers and programmers to support successful and timely delivery.
- Provide SME-level guidance on software engineering methodologies, techniques, and automated support tools.
- Test, debug, troubleshoot, and refine software and systems to ensure requirements are satisfied and solutions perform as intended.
