Job Description SummaryThe System Engineer II, Network reports to the Manager, Network Infrastructure and Security Engineering in support of MUSC's academic, research and healthcare missions. Under general supervision, this position supports network services, evaluates and resolves complex technical issues and demonstrates strong analytical and communication skills to maximize the benefit of services the team provides for Information Solutions. Assists in generating appropriate documentation, communications, processes, and plans to identify and remove obstacles to, and mitigate the disruption of change related to the design, management, implementation, and operations of the network; is responsible for the timely resolution of network issues; takes a role in projects; participates in team and project meetings and provides input on solutions to improve efficiency. The position transfers knowledge to peers and staff, maintains high professional standards, and exhibits excellent customer service skills while performing assigned tasks. Additional Skills required for the position include routing, switching, VOIP, wireless networks, IP address management, VPN, firewalls, and authentication services.

Additional Job DescriptionRequired Education/Skills/Work Experience:A high school diploma and six years directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree and two years directly related experience required; or a Masters' Degree in a related field. Four years of Network experience is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, customer service and communication skills required.
Experience in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers and monitoring applications. Knowledge of communication or information systems, voice and data networking operations. Knowledge and technical expertise in networking protocols, security, and wireless communications.
