HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Designs server and application architectures; performs administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software.
  • Maintains system security and executes common practices and procedures; monitors usage statistics and logs; monitors and remedies attempt to penetrate or corrupt server files.
  • Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings.
  • Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures. Troubleshoots system related problems.
  • Provides team leadership and guidance to less experienced administrators.
  • Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications.
  • Recommends future direction or projects to management.
  • Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience:
• 5+ years of related experience

Required Technical Skills:
• 4–8 years' experience as a Linux systems administrator
• Linux experience and certifications in RedHat Enterprise Linux
• RHEL 7 or later experience
• Security+ certification (DoD 8140 requirement)
• Experience with VMware ESXi/vCenter and virtualized systems (DRS, HA, vMotion, vDS, snapshots, DR strategies, lifecycle management)
• Experience with Slurpit, Nautobot, AWX, Netpicker, GitLab, or similar automation/configuration platforms
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP administration (SnapMirror, CIFS/NFS, volumes, SVMs, snapshots, quotas, connectivity, troubleshooting)
• Database experience with SQL/Postgres/Redis
• Coding or scripting experience (bash, Python, etc.)
• Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow‑through
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience

Security Clearance Level:
• TS/SCI (Required)

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
• Detail oriented and organized; ensure accuracy of work
• Pursues ongoing education in technical topics
• Good business communication skills
• Python language experience and/or certification
• Windows System and server experience
• Containerization experience (K8s troubleshooting support, Docker)
• RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 (Ansible) experience or certification
• Network+

The likely salary range for this position is $101,546 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
