In this role, you will serve as the operational backbone for our IT system infrastructure-maintaining continuous uptime, troubleshooting complex system issues, and optimizing both Windows and UNIX environments. You won't just sit behind a desk closing tickets; you'll actively monitor client, server, storage, and network devices, resolve escalated Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical challenges, and implement OS enhancements that drive performance and reliability. The annual base salary range for this role is $145,000-$172,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Operating System Administration: Strong hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Multi-Tier Technical Support: Proven background providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem resolution across enterprise client/server systems.
- System & Device Maintenance: Practical experience maintaining enterprise hardware, including servers, storage arrays, client workstations, and network devices.
- Hardware & Network Troubleshooting: Demonstrated capability to diagnose hardware faults, dispatch vendor repairs, and resolve network connectivity issues.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline PLUS
10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsScripting & Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine maintenance and system provisioning.
Virtualization & Storage: Experience managing virtualized environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, KVM) and SAN/NAS storage architecture.
Infrastructure Monitoring: Hands-on experience with enterprise system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds).
System Hardening: Exposure to baseline security configurations, patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, YUM), and DISA STIG compliance.
