Overview

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

 

Summary:

The System Administrator II provides system and infrastructure operations and maintenance support for EFMSS environments and associated IT infrastructure. The position is responsible for configuring and maintaining virtual servers and network components, patching systems, monitoring availability and performance, troubleshooting failures, managing scheduled operations, maintaining infrastructure inventories, and supporting backup, recovery, security, and contingency operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provision, configure, and reconfigure virtual servers and network components.
  • Perform patch management for infrastructure components and virtual servers.
  • Monitor systems to identify failures, performance issues, and availability concerns.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and performance issues and implement corrective actions to restore system availability.
  • Ensure assigned environments remain functional and perform in accordance with requirements.
  • Monitor systems and networks to ensure availability during required operating hours.
  • Schedule recurring system operations activities to minimize user impact and system downtime.
  • Implement approved non-emergency service requests during scheduled outages.
  • Maintain inventories of infrastructure components, licensed software, and systems.
  • Maintain DNS entry inventories within the applicable nps.gov environment.
  • Interface with other functional and technical areas to perform day-to-day system checks and corrections.
  • Monitor service-level objectives and system performance.
  • Maintain system logs, performance measurements, and operational statistics.
  • Ensure regularly scheduled jobs are submitted and completed correctly.
  • Monitor security controls and performance statistics and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Support configuration, security, and design reviews and audits.
  • Support implementation of approved system changes.
  • Support backup and recovery operations and maintain backup schedules.
  • Participate in backup restoration testing.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
  • Assist with contingency planning, recovery, restoration, and annual disaster recovery testing.
  • Complete or support incident documentation following production outages.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of system administration, virtual servers, infrastructure operations, patch management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network components, DNS, system availability, and scheduled system operations.
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
  • Knowledge of system security controls and vulnerability remediation.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve system and infrastructure problems.
  • Ability to monitor system performance and availability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in system administration, infrastructure operations, or a related IT field.
  • Experience supporting servers, virtual environments, operating systems, or network infrastructure.
  • Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and patch management.
  • Experience supporting backup and recovery activities.
  • Required to successfully pass a background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

 

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $87,000 to $89,000.
