The System Administrator provides day to day infrastructure and customer support within DOE's on prem environment. The role supports server administration, patching, backups, incident response, and ongoing security posture maintenance.
- Administer Windows Server 2019/2022 environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, security patches, and scheduled maintenance.
- Monitor backup/storage systems, troubleshoot alerts, and ensure recovery readiness.
- Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using Tenable/Nessus; collaborate with EITS on scan outcomes.
- Support high level incident response, triage technical issues, and document remediation actions.
- Participate in infrastructure initiatives (e.g., Windows 2016 retirement, IIS/logging enhancements) and security authorization evidence preparation.
- Support operational security hygiene through service account review and password rotation coordination.
- Contribute to documentation and Records Management collaboration across CMEI program offices.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience; Master's Degree preferred.
- CompTIA A+ or ITIL certification preferred
- 7-10 years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.
Other Job Specific Skills- Enterprise-level Windows Server administration and patching background.
- Proficiency in Tenable/Nessus vulnerability management and reporting.
- Experience supporting incident response and infrastructure troubleshooting.
- Azure infrastructure and network routing experience preferred.
