Survey Lead - East Harbour Transit Hub Project
Reporting to the Project Director, the Survey Lead will work directly with the execution team to ensure that work completed by Bird Construction's Infrastructure-Major Projects group meets all company and client specifications.
You would be joining the East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance that is designing and building a new railway station that will connect 3 different rail lines and improve the daily commute of thousands of riders. This position is based at the site office, 415 Eastern Ave, Toronto. What You Will Be Working On
Lead all survey operations on a large, multidisciplinary transit infrastructure project, overseeing the internal survey management team to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant survey deliverables aligned with construction, design, and regulatory requirements.
Manage coordination of all land access and property related requirements across the site, including identification of access constraints and integration with construction phasing, logistics planning, and design evolution.
Maintain a dynamic Lands Tracker system to support real-time identification and coordination of land needs across disciplines, enabling clear collaboration between the alliance and the client and enhancing project wide transparency.
Direct the in-house survey management team responsible for overseeing subcontracted surveyors-ensuring technical review of deliverables, validation of daily reports and timesheets, and overall performance tracking within budget and schedule constraints.
Enforce project-specific survey procedures, quality standards, and data control practices, ensuring uniform execution across all field and office-based survey work.
Provide strategic input on survey methodology, sequencing, and logistics planning, supporting project needs from early works through final turnover.
Oversee QA/QC reviews of survey data, drawings, and models-validating compliance with design specifications, tolerances, and statutory requirements.
Identify and mitigate survey-related risks or conflicts early by collaborating with design, construction, and engineering teams to align field realities with project intent.
Support a coordinated project delivery model by driving collaboration across technical disciplines, contributing to integrated planning and execution within a fast-paced alliance environment.
