Materials & Scheduling Supervisor leads materials planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and capacity planning for Therma-Tru Retail operations. The Supervisor is accountable for ensuring material availability, production readiness, inventory health, and alignment of manufacturing capacity with customer demand. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the Supervisor to actively engage in day-to-day planning, analysis, and issue resolution while leading and developing the team.
The Supervisor partners closely with Plant Operations, Sourcing, Customer Service, Commercial, and other Supply Chain functions to deliver customer service, inventory, working capital, and operational objectives. This role also provides planning leadership for growth and customer initiatives, ensuring new requirements are effectively integrated into ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and actively participate in materials planning and production scheduling for BPO retail operations, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and executable production schedules are aligned with customer demand and manufacturing capacity.
- Manage inventory to achieve customer service and working capital objectives, including optimizing inventory levels and reducing slow-moving and obsolete (SLOB) materials.
- Develop and maintain capacity plans; proactively identify material, capacity, inventory, and operational risks and develop mitigation plans to protect customer service.
- Partner closely with Plant Operations, Sourcing, Customer Service, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams to establish priorities, resolve issues, and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Support S&OP/S&OE processes by providing visibility to demand/capacity gaps, supply constraints, inventory risks, service performance, and recommended actions and trade-offs.
- Lead planning activities for growth, new product, and customer initiatives and serve as a key point of contact for special projects and urgent, unplanned customer requirements.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to customer service/CSI, schedule attainment, material availability, inventory, working capital efficiency (WCE), and capacity; use data to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain effective ERP-based planning processes, data accuracy, planning parameters, and process controls; identify and implement opportunities to improve systems, processes, efficiency, and visibility.
- Lead, coach, and develop the materials and scheduling team, establishing clear priorities and accountability while delegating effectively, building capability, and creating opportunities for associates to learn and grow.
- Foster a culture of high service, quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through coaching, process improvement, and strong cross-functional partnership.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field preferred; experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of relevant experience in materials management, production scheduling, manufacturing supply chain, or a related discipline.
- Previous people leadership or supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and lead through others.
- Strong knowledge of materials planning, production scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to use data to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and drive solutions.
- Strong customer service orientation and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills with the ability to focus on critical business priorities, manage through ambiguity, and keep the team moving forward.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with reporting and analytical tools.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support a multi-shift manufacturing operation.
- Experience supporting retail customers, growth initiatives, or new product introductions preferred.
- APICS/ASCM, ISM, or related supply chain certification preferred.
Additional InformationFortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $107,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
