Position SummaryThe Supply Chain Manager leads Powertec's sourcing, purchasing and supplier management activities. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective flow of direct and indirect materials to support production, competitive pricing, lead-time performance, and on-time delivery. The position requires strong communication, analytical judgment, cross-functional leadership, and a continuous improvement in mindset.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as the principal owner of purchasing, master production scheduling, and sourcing processes.
- Establish and drive key performance metrics relevant to supply chain, inventory, sourcing, and master production scheduling.
- Develop and oversee supplier quality initiatives, including a supplier scorecard system.
- Provide cross-functional materials and sourcing expertise and leadership across manufacturing, sales, and engineering teams.
- Lead cost-reduction efforts for assigned commodities, achieve annual cost reduction targets, and maintain a project funnel to support yearly goals.
- Develop and lead supplier negotiation strategies and establish contractual agreements that include favorable terms, conditions, and improved supplier performance expectations.
- Monitor and respond to commodity market conditions, including price, supply, and demand variables.
- Leverage MRP/ERP system to develop improvement strategies and supply chain efficiencies across the manufacturing footprint.
- Manage assigned functional responsibilities with urgency, ownership, and effective communication.
- Collaborate with sales and engineering on part standardization and materials optimization projects.
- Leverage HBD spend and capabilities to optimize the supplier base and drive cost reduction.
- Conduct make-versus-buy analyses to leverage Powertec capabilities and capacity.
Experience and Education - Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field is required.
- MBA with a concentration in supply chain management is preferred.
- More than five years of experience in lean supply chain or lean manufacturing operations is required, including experience with structured negotiations and contracts.
- Demonstrated process improvement and continuous improvement experience is required.
- Experience in global sourcing and capital equipment purchasing projects is desirable.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment with customized or engineered products is required.
- Experience in electric motor or related manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Experience leading and developing teams is required.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications is required, including the ability to format and analyze data.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365 is desirable.
- Professional supply chain-related certification, such as ISM or APICS, is preferred.
Travel Required Must be able to travel up to 15%.
