Full Job Description

As a Warehouse Manager at Covetrus, you will play a crucial role in our commitment to providing high-quality veterinary medications and ensuring the safety and health of animals. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading inbound logistics and inventory control activities within the distribution center. This role manages frontline associates and oversees receiving, put-away, cycle counting, shrink reduction, and non-saleable inventory. The Supply Chain Manager ensures operational accuracy, compliance, and efficiency to support customer service, financial performance, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inbound Operations
    • Oversee daily receiving, dock scheduling, put-away, and vendor returns.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound shipment inquiries with procurement, transportation, sales, regulatory, and quality teams.
    • Monitor dock-to-stock time and drive process improvements to meet service-level expectations.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (DEA, FDA, state boards).
  • Inventory Control
    • Manage cycle counting programs, investigate variances, and ensure accuracy in both quantities and dollar values.
    • Drive location accuracy and reduce shrink across the DC.
    • Oversee disposition of damaged, expired, and non-saleable goods, including recalls and supplier returns.
    • Maintain inventory data integrity with WMS/ERP systems.
  • Metrics & Accountability
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs): dock-to-stock time, cycle count variance (cost and quantities), location accuracy, lines per hour (LPH), shrink, and write-off avoidance.
    • Own responsibility for managing DC non-saleable inventory and supplier return compliance.
  • Leadership & People Development
    • Manage, coach, and develop a team of inbound and inventory associates.
    • Drive engagement, accountability, and cross-training to optimize labor.
    • Serve as a peer to the Outbound Manager, jointly supporting DC operational success.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify process gaps and lead tactical improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure SOPs are followed and updated as needed.
    • Promote a culture of operational discipline, safety, and compliance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly manages a team of inbound and inventory associates of varying levels of responsibility and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or related field, preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 5+ years of DC operations experience, including inbound logistics and inventory control, required.
  • 1+ year of leadership experience in a similar setting, required.
  • Strong knowledge of WMS/ERP systems and distribution processes (receiving, inventory, compliance).
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated distribution environment, preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt, preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Forklift Certification, preferred; ability to obtain Forklift Certification, required.

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute in a high-level DC environment.
  • Results-driven with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships (procurement, transportation, sales, regulatory).
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and general business-related software.

HOURS AND REPORTING
  • Reports directly to Distribution Center (DC) Manager.
  • Direct peer to Outbound Manager.
  • Hours for this position are Mon-Fri, day shift, with occasional requirement to work additional hours as dictated by business needs.
  • This position is a full-time, exempt position and is 100% on-site.

  • Must be flexible to work mandatory overtime hours as needed to ensure timely customer delivery.
  • Ability to lift and transport 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50-70 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk on concrete for the duration of the shift and complete tasks that include bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Ability to engage in overnight travel, if necessary (<5%).
  • May require occasionally working in a cooler environment of 35°- 46° F
