Job Type: Full Time

The Technical Training Supervisor leads the site's training and development strategy, ensuring technical competence, compliance, and continuous growth of the workforce. This role oversees the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs, supervises the training team, and partners with site leadership to align employee development initiatives with business priorities. A key focus is leveraging digital platforms and AI-enabled learning solutions to modernize content, improve training efficiency, and enhance learning outcome

This position reports to the Manager, Process Engineering and is in Geismar, Louisiana, U.S.A and is not available for remote work.

What You'll Do:

      • Develop and execute a site-wide learning strategy aligned with Nutrien's goals and the site's operational needs.
      • Maintain a strong field presence to understand how work is performed and identify gaps between procedures and practice.
      • Translate plant events, near misses, RCIs, audits, and MOCs into practical training and lessons learned.
      • Supervise, coach, and develop the training team, ensuring role clarity, accountability, and professional growth.
      • Develop a structured approach to site learning, including routine reviews.
      • Conduct and oversee competency assessments that validate applied technical knowledge.
      • Support Life Critical Procedure verifications as opportunities to improve clarity, usability, and field application.
      • Ensure alignment with OSHA, PSM, and regulatory requirements
      • Own and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure accuracy, visibility, and compliance of technical training records.
      • Ensure documentation meets regulatory retention standards and supports audit readiness. Provide coaching to SMEs, supervisors, and area leaders on instructional design, adult learning principles, and facilitation methods. Proactively communicate training opportunities, updates, and outcomes to employees and leadership. Partner with HR and site leaders to identify talent development opportunities, support succession planning, and define career pathways.
      • Oversee certification and qualification programs for operations and other regulated functions. Integrate digital and AI-enabled tools where they improve retention, accessibility, and field application.
      • Strengthen the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) program to build confidence and competence.
      • Partner with site HR to streamline onboarding of new employees, and with Corporate Learning and Development as needed.


What You'll Bring:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering) is preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing, chemical process, heavy industry, or energy sector
  • Working knowledge of process plant operational principles (Ammonia and Nitrogen-based fertilizer experience is desirable)
  • Experience in regulated environments with strong compliance, PSM, or SHE requirements
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems evaluation skills, with ability to measure training ROI
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analytics tools
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, integrity, and continuous improvement


Desirable

  • Experience with competency-based assessment programs and technical training frameworks, or in a learning & development leadership role would be an asset
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for content creation, adaptive learning, and digital learning delivery would be an asset
  • Knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning principles, and the full training cycle would be an asset
