Supervisor - Robotics & Automation EngineerPay: $95,000 - $115,000 annually Location: Based out of Springfield, MO CSI is looking for a qualified Supervisor - Robotics & Automation Engineer to lead the design, programming, integration, and continuous improvement of robotic welding and automation systems supporting repetitive manufacturing. If you are a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving complex automation challenges, improving manufacturing performance, and developing reliable systems, we want to hear from you!
This role serves as the technical owner of CSI's automated work cells and is accountable for cell capability, uptime, cycle time, weld quality, and repeatability across standardized, high-volume stainless-steel products. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering & Design, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehousing, and other teams to align automation capability, material readiness, manufacturability, and production schedules.
The Supervisor - Robotics & Automation Engineer provides technical direction to the Robotic Welding Programmer and Robotic Welding Cell Technicians while establishing the standards, documentation, training, and processes needed for reliable automation across production crews.
What You'll Be Doing - Develop and optimize robotic programs using offline programming and simulation, including weld parameters, schedules, motion paths, program libraries, and controlled production releases.
- Design and improve robotic cells by developing or directing fixtures, positioners, tooling, part-locating systems, vision systems, laser scanning, and seam-tracking technologies.
- Lead automation reliability and troubleshooting by resolving cell downtime, integrating controls and safety systems, coordinating preventive maintenance, and working with vendors and OEMs on equipment support.
- Support robotic welding processes and quality by developing weld parameters and test coupons, ensuring programs follow approved procedures, and partnering with Quality to resolve automated-weld issues.
- Support production planning and execution by aligning cell capacity with schedules, maintaining accurate cycle/setup/changeover times, and ensuring programs, fixtures, materials, consumables, and qualified personnel are ready for production.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement by using production data to identify opportunities, leading root-cause and corrective actions, maintaining an automation roadmap, supporting LEAN practices, and developing capital justifications.
- Develop people, standards, and documentation by providing technical direction and training, building cross-training capabilities, maintaining work instructions and automation documentation, and protecting CSI's proprietary programs, fixtures, and process know-how.
