Summary

The Supervisor, Information Systems leads the Enterprise Productivity and Collaboration (EPIC) team responsible for the delivery, support, communication, governance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365, Exchange, Power Platform, collaboration, communication, and related productivity solutions. The supervisor is responsible for the analysis of business and technology needs to design, implement, and support secure, reliable, and scalable solutions that improve employee productivity, operational effectiveness, and customer experience. They provide leadership for operational support, strategic planning, product roadmaps, technology modernization, and adoption of emerging capabilities, ensuring current business needs are met while designing and preparing the organization for future workplace and collaboration technologies. They partner with business and IT stakeholders to align technology investments, drive innovation, optimize processes, and deliver sustainable solutions that support APS's long-term objectives.

Key responsibilities include managing technical support and service delivery, leading the implementation and integration of new and existing systems, maintaining knowledge resources and support processes, and guiding staff in resolving complex technical issues. The Supervisor balances business requirements with technology standards, promotes operational efficiency, and fosters strong customer relationships while ensuring high levels of service and user satisfaction.

This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to supporting organizational goals through technology.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible Information Systems or related experience.
    • A combination of education and experience totaling twelve (12) years may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.


Preferred Experience
  • Information systems and application development, integration, implementation, and support.
  • Enterprise infrastructure, operating systems, network communications, and technology architecture.
  • Server technologies, and cross-platform integrations.
  • Information systems methodologies, standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Supporting business operations through technology solutions and partnerships.


Major Accountabilities

1) Leads the day-to-day activities of a team in the delivery and maintenance of quality information and communication systems solutions to support Pinnacle West business processes that conform to I/S guidelines and architectures. Ensures 7/24 client support for computer and telecommunications systems consistent with client service agreements and expectations. Ensures preferred technical architecture and business requirements are balanced to provide effective information and communication systems solutions, sound architecture, and cross-system integration objectives.

2) Leads the team in the resolution of technical issues by identifying, recommending and implementing appropriate solutions.

3) Manages work group costs within approved budget. Continually works to improve department work processes.

4) Supports unit level strategic plans that align with corporate and Information Technology plans. Supports client planning process and prioritization for systems technology implementation. Assigns, directs, facilitates, reviews and approves unit work activities to ensure effectiveness and productivity of the work unit. Maintains knowledge and understanding of business processes. Leads work activities to meet client expectations.

5) Develops and retains a highly skilled technical team by implementing performance management program and ensuring staff has the technical and business skills to support the objectives of the organization. Develops team and guides their efforts to continually improve the delivery of system solutions. Provides feedback, coaching and training and development opportunities to create a high performing team.

6) Leads team to support integration of new and existing information and business systems through overall systems architecture. Balances preferred technical architecture and business requirements to provide effective solutions and ensuring customer support.

7) Provides technical expertise when dealing with complex support and project challenges.

8) Serves as an escalated level of customer support in situations of high complexity or workload.

Home based:Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.
  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
