Position Overview: The Front Line Manager II - Machining & Assembly is responsible for leading multiple skilled trades teams across machining, assembly, and associated precision-fabrication operations within the Barberton facility. This higher-tier leadership role carries expanded ownership for cross-shift coordination, production planning, workflow prioritization, and technical problem-solving within a complex, multi-building machining environment.
The FLM II ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of machining and assembly work scopes, proactively resolves technical and operational challenges, and drives continuous improvement across processes, procedures, technology usage, and workforce effectiveness. This role serves as a key advocate for employee engagement, communication, and accountability while maintaining strong partnerships with technical support groups.
This position is primarily assigned to 2nd Shift; however, flexibility to transition between shifts, departments, and work areas is essential to maintain seamless operations. Scheduled overtime may be required based on operational demand.

Your Day to Day as a Front-Line Manager IIOperational Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and develop union hourly skilled trades employees in machining, assembly, and related precision-fabrication processes.
- Manage the daily activities of multiple machining and assembly teams, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and production requirements.
- Provide leadership continuity across shifts by establishing production plans, coordinating work execution, and ensuring downstream teams are prepared for follow-through.
Production Planning & Execution
- Plan, direct, and coordinate machining and assembly activities across multiple buildings, work centers, and product lines.
- Work closely with technical support groups to interpret fabrication work scopes, resolve machining issues, and ensure adherence to specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage complex component flows, ensuring clarity, communication, and coordination of technical requirements, engineering changes, and precision machining tolerances.
Technical Issue Resolution
- Apply technical knowledge of machining, assembly, and skilled trade practices to diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing support, and quality groups to investigate problems, identify root causes, and formalize corrective actions.
- Communicate safety, quality, and production updates verbally and in writing, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.
Data Management & Systems Use
- Input, analyze, and manage data related to labor time, production schedules, and workflow management within applicable computer systems.
- Utilize established processes, production data, and technology to make autonomous operational decisions and solve problems with limited precedent.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Evaluate machining and assembly operations to recommend improvements in workflow design, efficiency, resource utilization, safety, and cost control.
- Support the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and updated standards across machining and assembly teams.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen workforce engagement, skill development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Flexibility & Availability
- Flex between shifts and work areas based on project needs, staffing requirements, or emergent operations.
- Work scheduled overtime as required to maintain production continuity and meet customer commitments.
Required Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of relevant supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized machining, assembly, or precision-manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience supervising union skilled trades in machining, assembly, or precision component fabrication within a complex production setting.
- Strong technical background in machining processes, assembly practices, precision tolerancing, and multi-team coordination across multiple buildings or work centers.
- Ability to work autonomously within established practices, exercising sound judgment to resolve machining and assembly issues with limited precedent.
- Motivated to support production teams, proactively identify issues, and drive timely resolution.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging and influencing employees and leaders of diverse backgrounds and generations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with G&M Codes, MS Office, SharePoint, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, and overhead cranes a plus.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Pay: $79,000 - $119,000
The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
