SummaryThe Supervisor, Freight Forwarding Accounting is responsible for supervising day-to-day accounting activities and coordinating the financial closing process for assigned Freight Forwarding business units. This position reviews the work performed by Senior Analysts and Administrators, ensures timely completion of team deliverables, and verifies the accuracy and completeness of financial information before management review.The Supervisor serves as the first level of review and escalation for routine accounting matters, provides guidance to team members, and coordinates with Operations to resolve revenue, cost, accrual, billing, and reconciliation issues.
Responsibilities• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Senior Analysts and Administrators within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Assign work, establish priorities, monitor progress, and ensure that accounting and reporting deliverables are completed by required deadlines.
• Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities based on the approved closing schedule.
• Review journal entries, accrual calculations, account reconciliations, variance explanations, and supporting documentation prepared by team members.
• Review revenue and direct cost transactions for proper cutoff, classification, completeness, accuracy, and matching.
• Review aged accruals, unbilled revenue, outstanding reconciling items, and unusual account balances, and ensure that corrective actions are appropriately assigned and completed.
• Review recurring financial reports for accuracy, consistency, and completeness before submission to the Manager.
• Monitor billing, AR, collection, and cost-recording issues that may affect financial results or working capital.
• Coordinate with Freight Forwarding Operations to resolve accounting discrepancies, missing information, delayed billing, and cost allocation issues.
• Ensure that team activities comply with company accounting policies, closing procedures, documentation requirements, and applicable internal controls.
• Serve as the first escalation point for routine accounting issues and elevate material, complex, or unresolved matters to the Manager.
• Provide day-to-day coaching, technical guidance, and cross-training to Senior Analysts and Administrators.
• Monitor the operating effectiveness of assigned SOX and internal controls and ensure timely remediation of identified exceptions.
• Support internal and external audits and coordinate audit requests assigned to the team.
• Assist the Manager with budget, forecast, business plan, and profitability analysis.
• Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, data quality, reconciliation procedures, and reporting processes.
• Participate in system enhancements, automation projects, and user acceptance testing.
• Support employee onboarding, training, workload planning, and development activities.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Compensation Range$78,000 - $90,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Education & Experience- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 5-8 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Logistics, Month End Closing Required
- 6-9 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Logistics, Month End Closing Preferred
- 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience Required
